About Me
I’m inspired by this quote:
“…when society fails to write your story there is an unspoken message that the story is not worth telling.” (Jennifer Beals – GLAAD Award speech, 2006)
How does it move me? It moves me to seek out my story – a life and story lived as a lesbian – wherever I can find it, on the written page, in blogs, on television, in movies, in music. I am tired of subtext. I seek full, explicit text. Part of this experience is to share what I find, so I compiled my various livejournal accounts, blogs, favourite internet sites, and I put this together sprinkled with my own commentary, thoughts, random musings…it’s meant to be light, sometimes informative, always explorative, never offensive.
I am British, born in London, grew up outside of Canterbury and on the Isle of Thanet. Moved to America at 20, originally for just a few years but ended up staying here. I now live in Atlanta, a city challenged by it’s conservative and racist roots, but one also alive with the spirit of the New South – entrepreneurship, endless possibilities, a gay mecca, a sleepy city waking up to it’s cosmopolitan future. I live with my partner of 12 years and our 3 children in East Atlanta Village (where there are 2 gay bars, and a number of gay-owned businesses, including ours).
Besides spending a lot of time on the internet, I read and write, am an avid photographer, and am currently completely addicted to Verbotene Liebe — Carla & Stella forever!
